The leadership team of a 3+ EURb net revenue global engineering consultancy, with substantial global engineering centre workshare, was looking for ways to mature and elevate its global engineering centre setup, which, whilst large, remained fragmented and relative immature compared to its scale.


As such, a common path forward, around which the leadership and stakeholders could rally,
was needed as to build confidence in, and drive action towards, maturing the engineering centre setup.

 

Over 3+ months, Factor Consulting collaborated with the leadership team to build a path forward with clearly defined maturity steps, covering organisational setup, financial setup, process maturity, change narrative, and more, all leveraging industry best practices whilst recognising the client’s unique context.

How we a helped design a 25,000+ FTE engineering consultancy’s future global delivery operating model

With stagnant revenue growth, a 25,000+ FTE global engineering consultancy found itself with a global delivery setup comprising too many silos, varying practices, and limited ability to deliver the strategic, large, multi-disciplinary work packages that would fuel the next stage of growth for the company.


The responsible for the global engineering centre setup thus needed a new operating model that would allow the global delivery setup to mature, grow in scale, and allow it to take on the larger work packages that would fuel the company’s overall growth.

 

To help design its future global delivery operating model, the company partnered with Factor Consulting, covering design of organisational blueprints, incentives, delivery processes, and identification of must-pull improvement levers.

How we helped a top engineering consultancy mature its workforce planning

A top engineering consultancy with a global client base was challenged from low visibility of staffing and workload forecasting - in general, and in its global engineering centres – leaving value left behind through lowered staff utilisation as well as from reactive hiring.

 

To begin to improve, and to set direction for workforce planning improvement initiatives, the client sought to better understand best practices within workforce planning solutions and processes.

 

The client partnered with Factor Consulting and through interviews, analysis and workshops, workforce planning archetypes and best practices were defined, allowing the client to take informed, confident steps toward improving workforce planning.
